Since the release of their self-titled EP on April 20, Colorado hip-hop super-group Food Chain has given away and offered up more than 3,000 EPs and downloads. And there's no slowing down the crew of emcees and producers. They recently hooked up with Colorado producer-of-the-moment Boon Doc, aka Boonie Mayfield, for their new single, "Round and Round." For those unaware, Boon recently won the Denver rounds of the Red Bull Big Tune competition and produced Mr. J Medeiros' recently released EP, The Art Broken Glass.

"Its been really awesome to see and experience such growth in such a short period of time," said group member Mic Coats. "The welcome our peers, dj's, radio stations, media, etc have given us has been extremely receptive and humbling to say the least!  We've been recording some great material and are gearing up for some great performances here in the next few weeks."

You can check out Food Chain on Thursday, August 13, at Hermans Hideaway, Saturday, August 29, at the Walnut Room and on Thursday, September 3, at the Fox Theatre in Boulder with David Banner. In the meantime, check out the single after the jump.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
