Since Jerry Garcia’s passing fifteen years ago last month, the surviving members of the Grateful Dead have gone through several different projects. None, however, have come as close to capturing the sound of the original Dead as the current incarnation of Furthur. Guitarist John Kadlecik has an uncanny knack for channeling the late Garcia both on guitar and through his eerily similar singing voice. The melodic thunder of Phil Lesh’s bass playing and distinct tone of Bob Weir’s rhythm guitar round out the nostalgic sound, which is mixed with fresh new playing by keyboardist Jeff Chimenti (Human Flavor, Alphabet Soup), drummer Joe Russo (Robert Walter’s 20th Congress, the Duo) and vocalists Sunshine Becker and Jeff Pehrson.
