Rubber Planet

, with Sad Star Cafe, Friday, August 11, at Hermans Hideaway, bounces around the pop universe with a classic songwriting approach that results in catchy, radio-ready anthems; luckily, the players possess the talent to make that proposition interesting. The Denver-based four-piece crafts catchy variations on the verse-chorus-verse formula while vocalist Silver sings about girls, girls and more girls. Things seem to be going well in the Rubber realm these days: The band recently released a new record (Just Visiting, an alien-themed recording that begins with a pleasant ditty, Space Girl:) and appeared on the Denver date of the Warped Tour. Hopefully, the players will come down to Earth for Friday nights show.
