Though they’re unabashedly spunky and devoid of pretense, the Dinnermints’ brand of bubble-punk still has its artistic leanings: The band sprang from the obtuse, intentionally difficult ambient project called the Twins, which enlisted ‘Mints singer/guitarist Sarah Mesmer and drummer Peter Carnovale. No surprise, then, that the guitar- and hook-heavy trio would be chosen to usher in Momentum, a new series of music, art and performance events to be held each month at Revoluciones Collective Art Space in the Golden Triangle neighborhood. The band performs on Thursday, December 20; clothing and canned-food donations will be accepted at the door, with collections benefiting St. Joseph’s Redemptionist Church. Prepare to be snared in the Dinnermints’ smart, catchy pop: Their sound always refreshes.
