Wendy Woo wants to connect with you. She's also feeling a little bit saucy these days, judging by the title of her new CD, Gonna Wear Red. The bold, Boulder-based chanteuse and guitarist (who is nominated in this year's Westword Music Showcase) unveils material from the release in a series of performances this month, including a headlining slot at the Soiled Dove on Saturday, May 18; fellow singer/songwriters Matthew Moon and Melanie Susuras complete the lineup. Woo's recipe of soulful intimacy and passionate playing has made her a regional favorite. Her music flows from simplistic folk-acoustic melodies to powerful rocking tunes, while lyrically her pain and loves, sorrows and triumphs help build a feeling of synergy and connectedness in her live performances. Prepare to be Wooed.
