The clouds have parted for Against Tomorrow’s Sky. Already a darling of music fans in Colorado Springs, the band recently wowed indie label Universal Warning into releasing its first CD, Jump the Hedges, and backing a Midwestern tour. Alternating the skills of Jeff Fuller and Mike Stevens on guitar and vocals, the outfit is sincere without being too close to the emo warblers; it’s also more skilled and stylistically ambitious than others in the pop-punk pack. Maybe there is more to Colorado Springs than Air Force Academy dances and James Dobson propaganda. See for yourself on Friday, January 3, when the Sky-caps headline the Bluebird Theater as part of their jaunt across the prairie. 34 Satellite and the Wind-Up Merchants also appear.
