Jimmy Nasi carries a hint of Lou Reed's clipped inflections on 'Half of the Things'; Nasi, backed by Whitney Rerh's vocals, gives this song a sonic depth that recalls later Big Star compositions. "For Years" starts off with a delicate but progressive guitar line that deftly shifts gears throughout to accent Nasi's bittersweet lyrics about the travails of being in a band with people who talk big but whose plans go nowhere besides a collective dustbin of dreams. "Lost in a Sea" ends the EP on an expansive and hopeful note reminiscent of the sparkling, atmospheric rock of Nasi's old band, the 40th Day. Three For You offers an impressively thoughtful and stirring take on experience, loss and love in just three songs.
