File under: Best. Song. Ever. Well, today, anyway. Such is the conceit for our latest feature, the cleverly dubbed Song of the Day. Today's song, a bewitching number called "Big Jet Plane" by Australian siblings Angus & Julia Stone. Hometown hit maker Frank E turned us on via a tweet earlier today, and we haven't been able to stop listening since. The riff it's built on is rather simple, and the words are relatively sparse, but there's something about the tune that just flips our wig. And the video's pretty rad, too. Nothing like being left to your own devices in a party store. Have you heard a new song that's better than this one? Tell us about it. We're always on the hunt for new music. What are some other new songs should we fill our listening device with?

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
