As you've no doubt heard by now, Jersey Shore DJ Pauly D takes over Beta for what is sure to be a sea of hair gel and ubiquitous fist-pumping. Those with more discriminating taste will want to be upstairs in the Beatport Lounge for P.U.N.C.H.I.S., the best weekly underground techno night in Denver.

This Friday, Angel Castro, Sequence and Mick Finesse play the latest cutting-edge techno, tech-house and minimal dance music. It's one of the freshest club atmospheres in the city: techno-hippie idealism-meets-nightclub sophistication.

Also tonight is Friday Night Fever, a monthly disco house night at Bácaro (921 Pearl St., in Boulder). This month, Denver house music legend Hipp-E joins resident DJ mLe behind the decks for a benefit for mLe's family, who lost their home in the Fourmile Canyon Fire.

Tomorrow night is Wax On Wax Off, a vinyl-only house night at Funky Buddha (776 Lincoln St.). This cool, retro concept takes you back to the days when DJs used to spin actual records. On the ones and twos are Steve Synfull, Phillip G and Bones.
