I hate Christmas music -- hate it. It's dull, overly familiar and absolutely inescapable at this time of year. On the other hand, I've been moderately obsessed with so-called chiptunes, music inspired and/or made by vintage video-game machines. So, when I ran across this collection of 8-bit chiptunes versions of traditional Christmas music, I was torn. Ultimately, my chiptune obsession won out, and thus I present the oddball genius of 8-Bit Jesus by Doctor Octoroc, the ultimate Christmas album for the Nintendo generation. It features such Christmas favorites as "Carol of the Belmonts," "Super Jingle Bros." and "Joy to Commando." And it's free, so enjoy it and consider it my Xmas gift to you. -- Cory Casciato
