Nearly a decade ago, Greg Kimble launched KMG Studios, branded as a "studio created by musicians for musicians."

While it once handled production, writing, mixing, mastering, full artist development and more, Kimble's company, now known as KMGLife Inc., started teaching workshops in Boulder, with KMG Academy in 2015, giving aspiring artists the skills needed to incorporate electronic sounds into their repertoire.

Now KMG Academy, which is an Ableton Certified Training Center, offers programs in recording arts and music production, including the six-month Ableton Music Production Program, aimed at DJs and music producers.

After three years in Boulder, KMG Academy teamed up with Side 3 Studios to add a Denver location, and it will be hosting an open house and meet-and-greet to let the public know what it's up to.

Watch a video about the open house below:

The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. this Sunday, January 13, at the studio at 725 Mariposa Street.

Even if you can't make it, KMG Academy is opening enrollment for the Ableton Music Production Program February 2019 class now. For more information, call 720-250-9020; RSVP for the open house at the KMG Facebook page

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
