When you're just one dude with a mike and a laptop, it's good to seek strength in numbers. Billy Pollard, the 23-year-old Canadian also known as Knifehandchop, has learned this lesson well. As part of the Paws Across America tour, he's crisscrossing the country with his Tiberbeat6 labelmates Kid 606, Drop the Lime and Eats Tapes. For the past five years, Pollard has been constructing huge, distorted beats and layering them with everything from electro to hardcore to dancehall (imagine Shaggy in a Fear Factor faceoff with Atari Teenage Riot). His latest opus, the scathing and abrasively catchy How I Left You, was released after two long tours of Europe and Japan. Tonight's show is being warmed up by Boulder's own synth-punk sensation, Mannequin Makeout. It's bound to be a noise-filled, dance-fueled blowout.
