Despite clocking in at a hefty eighteen tracks, The Owner’s Manual, the new joint from Manifest, makes for easy listening. Working with numerous soul samples and dope beats, Manifest does well with the space and time he has, and his voice is pleasing to the ear, especially when he’s spitting double-time rhymes over zipping bass lines, as on “Shut It Down.” Like a storytelling griot, Manifest opens the album with precision, welcoming you into his world with “My Show,” employing a super-staccato flow while rapping about following his dreams. The true gems are buried deep in the record: Check for “We the Realest,” a fly posse cut, and “You Got Me.” Manifest boasts that his style cannot be duplicated, and he’s right. If you’re into purist rap, this one’s for you.
