As previously reported, tonight's the night when Hot IQs retire their jerseys after an estimable six year run. A distinguished, iconic band that earmarked an era, the outfit is immortalized in the pantheon of local music alongside other dearly departed, homegrown legends such as the Fluid, the Czars, the Gamits and Planes Mistaken for Stars, among others. An outfit that began humbly as the Royal We (or Just Odessa, if you're a trivia buff) before morphing into Hot IQs, the group grew from a group of friends who barely knew how to play their instruments (Elaine Acosta had never played drums prior to forming the group) into one of the most vibrant, beloved indie rock trios in the region. We loved them, at least, and we're sad to see them go. Needless to say, we'll be on hand tonight to bid the threesome farewell, and we hope to see you there. If you're over 21, the show is free with a ticket, which you can print off the group's website. In the meantime, after the jump, we've posted an exclusive, unreleased track from the band called "Hungry Hungry Hypo," recorded by Bryan Feuchtinger at Uneven Studio, for your downloading pleasure.
