Mr. Midas

Flight Risk is a mixtape of what are essentially leftover joints from Mr. Midas’s album Son of the Crack Era, with several new concept-driven collaborations thrown into the mix. Chock-full of posse cuts and interludes supporting the “flight risk” theme, the rap is exceptional, and not just from Midas. “Make Her Say” is almost exclusively Rockie’s song, and he carries it well with support from comrades Midas and Pries. Young Doe is just as solid on “Ova Do It.” In his understanding of the rawness of drug life, Midas has put together a platform for those who can relate to the concept of survival to speak over beats and rhymes, and it’s totally hip-hop.
