Nathaniel Rateliff is just returning from London after having played a pair of very well received performances last week, including one sitting in with Liam Gerner, an Aussie singer-songwriter, at the Half Moon in Putney that attracted that dude from Twilight — whose sister was also on the bill, evidently.
Those gigs were significant not just for who was in attendance, though; they also marked the last official shows Rateliff will be playing under the Wheel moniker. Due to some legal challenges with the handle, Rateliff will be performing under his own name at South By Southwest next month and on Daytrotter’s upcoming Barnstormers III tour with the Delta Spirit and Ra Ra Riot, as well as upcoming dates with Low Anthem and Tallest Man on Earth. The five-date Barnstormers jaunt kicks off on Tuesday, April 27 in West Liberty Iowa and concludes in Maquoketa, Iowa on Saturday, May 1.
