After 15 years since he graced the Centennial state, English singer-songwriter and musician Sir Paul McCartney will officially make his return to Denver this year. Not only did the announcement come as a surprise to fans, but it was aided with the help of the historic Union Station.
Over the weekend, the Downtown Denver station transformed into a living canvas where McCartney's face was accompanied by moving stars and tour logistics. The custom projection mapping installation, live from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday, marked the official public announcement of McCartney's Denver show, which will be on October 11 at Coors Field.
Back in July 2010, McCartney took the Pepsi Center (now known as Ball Arena) by storm while on the "Up And Coming Tour." With over 14,000 fans in attendance, McCartney performed music from The Beatles, Wings and his own music throughout the show. Ever since then, he hasn't returned to Colorado for his other five solo tours.
When McCartney announced his Got Back tour in 2022, it was supposed to only have 14 stops across the U.S. However, after 16 stops nationwide, McCartney took the tour globally to Australia, Latin America and Europe before announcing a return to North America on July 10.
The 83-year-old performer will start the Got Back 2025 tour on September 29 at Acrisure Arena in California and end it at Chicago's United Center on November 25. The 19-date tour spans across cities such as Las Vegas, Atlanta and Nashville.
After over a decade without the rock icon in Denver, this announcement called for a grand celebration. Presented by AEG Presents Rocky Mountains, Visit Denver, Union Station and Coors Field, the projection honored the music legend with mesmerizing visuals that moved seamlessly in motion.
