New-school drum-and-bass dons Nicolas Ruoff and Florian Harres, known collectively as Phace, are taking over the scene. Close friends since their school days in southwest Germany, the two cut their teeth on the massive sounds of U.K. D&B, and it wasn’t long before their passion for the style led them into the studio and behind the decks. Their futuristic synthesis of sounds — which garnered the pair a deal with the seminal Renegade Hardware imprint — has blossomed into one of the freshest and most distinctive musical productions to hit the drum-and-bass crowd in years. Currently in the midst of its first stateside tour, Phace will appear at the Milk Bar this Saturday, May 27.
