Planet Bluegrass, the Lyons-based outfit that brings you the enormously popular Telluride Bluegrass and RockyGrass, which has already sold out, and Rocky Mtn Folks Festival, which is on its way to selling out, have announced plans to host Yonder Mountain String Band this coming August.
The two-day Kinfolk Celebration is slated to take place on the fifteen-acre Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons on Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25. Tickets for Kinfolk, which range from $50 for a one-day ticket to $130 for a two-day pass plus on-site camping, go on sale on Friday, April 20 at 9 a.m.
Besides the act’s annual appearance at Telluride Bluegrass, the Kinfolk date will be Yonder Mountain’s only Colorado play this summer. The band, which has ties to Planet Bluegrass that date back to the late ’90s, when the group first performed at Rocky Grass, held the inaugural edition of Kinfolk in 2003, as documented on live double-album Mountain Tracks 3. No word yet on what other acts we’ll be included on the lineup, but as the name suggests, you can bet they’ll all be kindred to Yonder Mountain.
