Kyle Person doesn’t look like what most people think of when they think “musician,” and that will probably work well in his favor in the long run. He also doesn’t make music like the average musician. Anyone who’s seen his shows these past few years may have witnessed someone who seemed to be going about things eccentrically with odd equipment, but there’s never been any mistaking Person’s determination or imagination. Crafting sublimely beautiful electronic pop songs with an old laptop and a handful of other devices usually found only in a thrift store or someone’s garage, Person — who performs under the name Postmodern Troll (due at the Larimer Lounge on Tuesday, July 26) — has truly taken limitations and turned them into challenges in writing better songs. Always uplifting and lightly theatrical, Person’s performances feel like he’s tapping directly into a pure place in his heart.
