The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
Just got word that Mike Freeman, frontman of Gina Go Faster, died of brain cancer yesterday morning. Freeman had been battling cancer for a couple of years and this is a great loss not just for his friends and family, but for the Denver music scene as well. Freeman’s fiancee Jennifer asks that people do not send flowers to the memorial, but consider donating the money to Colorado Neurological Institute instead. Additional details on the memorial service will be posted at the link above as they are finalized. Please feel free to post your memories of Mike and of Gina Go Faster in the comments section, or reach out to his family via the link above or the Mike Support Foundation. Update: A memorial service for Mike Freeman is slated for 2 p.m. this Friday, September 18, at Rockland Community Church in Golden (17 S. Mt. Vernon Country Club Road).
