Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

It's been a little while since we heard from producer and MC Strange Powers (known to some as Shag One). But Powers is slowly getting back into the fold after working in the background with a variety of artists, plus using an alias on a variety of other music projects.

"Right now I'm working on my label Broken Beaker Records, gearing up for the MC Entity release," he says. "I've done some production for that, as well as mastering it and putting it out through our digital distribution. Plus focusing on the beats for Jocklife.com and producing the Africa Sam album, so that's keeping me busy currently."

But you can also expect albums from his side projects Silly Humans (myspace.com/sillyhumansgo), The Strange Us (myspace.com/thestrangeus), and Sugar Bleep (myspace.com/sugarbleep). As far as his own album, he's currently working on that as well and has given us a taste through the song "The Dedicated Few." Check it out below:

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
