A telepath is a creature that can communicate directly with the mind of another sentient being without the need for vocalization. This fact appears to inform the core of what the band Telepath attempts in its music. Because music transcends language and can communicate ideas and emotions directly, Telepath largely dispenses with words and instead blends together worldbeat, downtempo, dub, jazz and house for a rich mélange from which to draw. Whatever tricks it employs, the trio aims to uplift its audience not just with a hybrid compositional flavor, but through the catharsis of dancing and the ritual thereof. A Telepath performance is equal parts DJ set, dance hall and otherworldly chill-out session, and should appeal to anyone who appreciates artists capable of going beyond established parameters.
