Shortly after forming their band in 2000 in Concord, North Carolina, the Avett Brothers, led by Scott and Seth Avett, released their debut album, and they’ve seemingly been on tour ever since. Their diligence has paid off — not just artistically, in terms of having experiences worth writing songs about, but in terms of the group’s ever-increasing popularity. Signing with Rick Rubin’s American Recordings in 2008, the Avett Brothers went on to perform on Austin City Limits and at the 2011 Grammy Awards, giving viewers a taste of their charismatic, interactive and captivating live show. While it’s tempting to file this unique act under the strict realms of country, bluegrass or rock, the band has actually managed to embody the best of all those worlds in songwriting and in performance.
