The Motet, an eclectic, Boulder-based, genre-twisting act, is known for bringing down the house this time of year with its drum-driven brand of blender groove. While past Halloweens have seen the band delving into authentic Afro-beat, flights of fusion-esque fancy and even last year’s Prince tribute, the group’s devoted fans have voted this time around for their boys to tackle the greatest chart-buster of all time from the man from Neverland. So this weekend, the Motet (due at the Fox Theatre on Saturday, October 29, and Cervantes’ on Monday, October 31) will interpret Michael Jackson’s Thriller in its entirety, dragging tunes such as “Beat It,” “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin'” and “Billie Jean” down various musical corridors, while a host of music freaks dance along blissfully. The performances by the eleven-piece outfit will include guest vocalists Jans Ingber and band-friend Dede. Dust off your white glove and leave the kids at home. It’s going to be bad.
