The Procussions' Japan-only EP, Up All Night, garnered so much attention that the Colorado-born, Los Angeles-ized trio has added four new songs for an upcoming stateside full-length release. With only two of eleven tracks featuring all three MCs (Stro the 89th Key, Mr. J Medeiros and Resonant), this project is focused more on showcasing the individual members' talents -- whereas on 2003's As Iron Sharpens Iron, the vocals were more consistently woven together. Knitting rhymes and rhythms with intricate production, Stro carries the album, playing straightahead hip-hop beats and jazz-heavy keyboards with equal amounts of skill and flavor. Overall, despite a few wandering instrumental moments, the disc is solid and finds the threesome throwing down its trademark fun-yet-spiritually-enlightening poetics. These Colorado homeboys are coming Up strong.
