Ben Folds (performing tonight with Kenton Chen) has had several careers over the last few decades. Playing in bands since the ’80s, the multi-instrumentalist found MTV and radio-friendly success in the ’90s with his piano-led outfit Ben Folds Five. Weathering the storm of mainstream success, Folds continued on with some lesser known work, but kept a steady fan base with his observational storytelling and energetic live shows.
With more than a dozen albums to his credit, Folds has created a catalog of work that is easily listenable, much like that of fellow American pianist and songwriter Billy Joel — but with a trademark Ben Folds’ lyrical wit and sarcasm. This show is sixteen and up, and tickets are $35-40. Doors open at 7 p.m., and performances begin at 8 p.m.
