Tonight: Whitechapel at Summit

Metal has gone in some diverse directions in the past few decades, and Knoxville's Whitechapel grows from the harsh and speedy thread of deathcore. The band pulls from an artillery of three guitarists to underlay vocalist Ben Savage's deep and throaty screams, which come in several tonal layers on Whitechapel's latest release, last year's A New Era of Corruption.

Not the typical sonic fare found at South By Southwest, the band defied convention and played a string of showcase dates with like-minded metal groups. The sextet is now back on the road to finish up some dates in the U.S. before heading to the U.K. next month. This show is all ages and tickets are $16-18. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and bands start at 7:30 p.m.
