YACHT (due tonight at the Bluebird Theater, with Light Asylum, Jeffrey Jerusalem and Bad Weather California) has existed over the last decade in many forms. Electro-mastermind Jona Bechtolt ran the show himself for several years before being joined by creative partner Claire L. Evans in 2008.
Last year, a full band known as the Straight Gaze was added to the mix, elevating the group's genre-bending dance grooves to a fuller, more audibly illustrated level. Going far beyond the traditions of modern music, YACHT touts itself as "a band, a belief system and a business," an ever-evolving producer of art that has traveled the world and played shows alongside the Chemical Brothers, White Rainbow and LCD Soundsystem. This show is sixteen-and-up, and tickets are $14-$18. Doors open at 7 p.m., and bands start at 8.
