It's probably no surprise that a Christian metalcore band hails from Tampa, Florida. Sure, a quick and superficial listen to the band's songs will prompt eye rolls from anyone who hates "screamo" and its offshoots. But at least these guys seem to care about being taken seriously outside the context of being a "Christian" rock band, and their lyrics aren't filled with scripture and spiritual platitudes. While not for everyone, Underoath is a cut above most of the bands embracing the genre designation most often assigned to it.
