Vail isn’t just a winter destination anymore, as the world-class ski spot is equally as beautiful and happening in the summer.

Last year, the resort hosted the inaugural Vail Summer Sessions, a free weekend of music featuring on-mountain performances from headliners Cannons and Vandelux.

Based on the success of last summer’s event, the Vail Summer Sessions are returning for a second year. The festivities are set to kick off on Friday, June 27, with a show at Eagles Nest Rooftop from Magoo and Blue Ox Boys, starting at 2:30 p.m.

Magoo, the popular Denver progressive bluegrass quartet, recently released a new tune, “This Roads Been Good To Me,” while Blue Ox Boys is an up-and-coming Vail group that local audiences may be familiar with from the five-piece’s previous appearance at the SpringFree Bluegrass Festival.

On Saturday, June 28, Evan Honer takes the stage at the base of Gondola One, with support from Wood Belly, at 5 p.m. The SoCal-by-way-of-Arizona singer-songwriter and former American Idol contestant also has some fresh music to share, as “Better Off Lonely” dropped in late April. Denver bluegrass quintet Wood Belly has been a mainstay on the scene, particularly after winning the 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition, and knows what Colorado crowds crave.

The 2025 sessions come to a close on Sunday, June 29, when BYRNE and Moonstone Quill take to the roof, beginning at 1:45 p.m. But BYRNE, an artist on the rise out of Venice Beach, is sure to bring the good vibes with his upbeat blend of pop and EDM. Earlier this month, his latest track, “Dancing At The End Of The World,” further proves BYRNE is always looking on the bright side of life.

Moonstone Quill, out of Breckenridge, is another example of Colorado’s fertile acoustic scene, as the foursome sprung up in 2023, but have won Summit County’s best local band the past two years.

While the music is the marquee attraction of Vail Summer Sessions, Toyota will be hosting a variety of activities at Lionshead and Vail Village from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, too.

For the Eagles Nest Rooftop shows, a scenic gondola ticket or 2025-26 Epic Pass is required to access the venue. Space at the event is limited, and while admission is free, entry requires a wristband, which can be obtained the day-of the event at the Toyota tents at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola.
