I may have lost my camera, some of my hide and a piece of my heart in Piñon Canyon, but I also brought some of the land home with me — and not just the dirt in my boots and the cactus spines in my skin. I've signed up to buy a square inch of land, a square inch that's part of the property in danger of being taken by the Army. Rancher Cathy Mullins donated an acre of her land to the cause, and for the past year, she and other members of the Piñon Canyon Expansion Coalition have been selling square-inch parcels for $10, which also buys a frame-able legal deed and the knowledge that "you're standing with American citizens who are fighting to protect their homes and their lands from seizure by the military."
