Sometimes a phrase that’s been around for ages suddenly takes on unexpected significance. Case in point: “Congratulations: You made it through the week.” Morning 9News anchor Gary Shapiro has been delivering this benediction every Friday for years; he started working at the station in 1983, and took over a.m. hosting duties in 1989. Given the hard-and-getting-harder times in which we currently live, however, these words now boast an added resonance. Any of us who made it through the week deserve a pat on the back for doing so.
