Today's announcement about winners of the Pulitzer Prize featured a notable local connection: Denver Post photog Craig F. Walker, who was feted for the series "Ian Fisher: American Soldier."

The project required a long-term commitment from the Post, as well as the man behind the lens: Walker shot snaps of Fisher over a 27-month period. These days, few news organizations of any type, newspapers included, are willing to expend the resources necessary to make such a story happen.

The Pulitzer is an acknowledgment both of Walker's impressive and deeply committed work and the effort expended to make it happen. See a gallery of the award-winning photos by clicking here.
