The Denver Police Department responded to an explosion outside of a Wendy's late at night on Thursday, January 23, on East Sixth Avenue, near Speer Boulevard and Sherman Street.

According to police and multiple media reports, the 911 call came around 10:10 p.m. Residents nearby in the Speer neighborhood reported their windows shaking around the same time of the explosion.

Upon investigation, police discovered a propane tank inside the vehicle that is believed to have caused the explosion, according to a 9NEWS report. No injuries have been reported, and there was no visible damage to the exterior of Wendy's.

According to a post from DPD on X, the vehicle was found unoccupied, and the bomb squad cleared the scene. A bystander captured some of the action below.

"Officers responded to the 200 block of E. 6th Ave to investigate reports of a car explosion. The vehicle was found unoccupied and the bomb squad cleared it. Officers are working to develop suspect information, investigation is ongoing," the post reads.
