Timothy Boham, the former gay-porn star currently on trial for the 2006 murder of a Denver businessman, took the stand in his own defense yesterday. This move is often a sign of desperation -- and his testimony reflected the quality, too. He'd previously confessed his complicity to plenty of folks, including his mom, who testified against him -- but he told the jury that the victim, J.P. Kelso, actually killed himself.
This same approach was famously used by genius record producer/hairstyling eccentric Phil Spector a few years back: Despite his reputation as something of a gun nut, he claimed that a young woman who died in his home had perished as the result of an "accidental suicide." But even though his enormous resources kept him out of jail for years, Spector couldn't sell that story indefinitely. In April, he was convicted of second-degree murder.
Not to say that Boham is destined for a similar fate. But it'll take more than his attractive face to convince a jury to believe this particular twist.
