Over the weekend, the Denver Police Department shared information about the death of a fourteen-month-old child.
The tragedy was caused by injuries deemed questionable enough to arrest the child’s father, Jared Jimenez, on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death. It’s not Jimenez’s first run in with the law: He’s reportedly been arrested seven times in the past five years. Get more details from the DPD release below:
Denver Police Investigate Child Death
(Denver) Denver Police are investigating the death of a child that occurred in West Denver on Friday, June 25, 2010.
Officers were dispatched to Lutheran Hospital at approximately 1:00 p.m. after receiving a phone call from a hospital staff person. The caller related that a 14 month-old boy had been brought to the hospital by a family member and that the infant had sustained injuries they considered suspicious in nature. The child was pronounced deceased.
Denver Homicide Detectives are investigating this incident as a homicide and have taken the father of the child, Jared Jimenez, (D.O.B.) into custody for “Investigation of Child Abuse Resulting in Death.”
Additional information will be released pending further investigation.
