Joe Cocker's Mad Dog Ranch Going Up for Auction: Take a Photo/Video Tour

Update: As we've reported, the hot real-estate market in Colorado doesn't always extend to celebrity properties.

Case in point: Actor Tom Cruise's $59 million Telluride spread remains unsold even though it's been on the market since October 2014.

Rock singer Joe Cocker's Mad Dog Ranch, an incredible property near Crawford, on the Western Slope, has been available for even longer, and the price tag as of earlier this year was less than a tenth of the one slapped on Chez Cruise: $5.75 million. But no one has purchased it, either — so in just over two weeks, it's being put up for auction.

As we've reported (material from our April 2014 original post and an April 2016 update are incorporated here), Cocker decided to downsize more than two years ago, and the listing for the Ranch offered potential buyers a couple of options: The initial asking price was $7 million without furnishings or equipment, or $7,850,000 with them included. But by the time Cocker died, in December 2014, no one had stepped up to make a deal, and even reducing the price by more than $1 million hasn't caused any wallets to open.

Now, Supreme Auctions is conducting what's described as a "No Reserve" sale on Thursday, September 1 — and the company is pulling out all the stops. The Supreme Auction page devoted to Mad Dog Ranch includes a new pitch describing the property as well as a beautifully produced video highlighting its large number of amenities.
