Maurice "Ariel Attack" Schwenkler charged with criminal mischief -- and the political kind, too

The strange case of Maurice Schwenkler has entered a new phase now that the Denver District Attorney's Office has formally charged the far-left trangender activist also known as Ariel Attack with criminal mischief in the smashing of eleven windows at Colorado's Democratic Party Headquarters. But the political fallout continues, with blogosphere blatherers on the right doing everything possible to connect the Dem establishment with the crime, even though Attack apparently wishes a pox upon both major party houses. Pundits such as Dinah Lord, whose website banner features the phrase, "Warning -- Muslims, Moonbats, Marxists and Misogynists -- enter at your own risk," suspected an inside job from the beginning. As she put it, "I smell a hammer carrying DemocRAT...." James Edwards, the man behind the Political Cesspool blog, who touts "the rise of Ethnopolitics," adds some homophobia and racism to the mix in a post entitled "Tranny Perv Arrested in Hate Crime Hoax," writing, "Notice in the first link how the mainstream newspaper ignores his 'transgendered' status. They refer to him only as Matthew, and with masculine pronouns, and don't mention his perversion. That's because he's the perp. If he was claiming to be a victim of a crime, the paper would be calling him Ariel, she, her, etc. But the media treats perverts like non-whites. If they're the victim of a crime, their status is all important. If they're the criminal, it should be hushed up." And this morning, John Hawkins, writing for the ultra-right TownHall.com site, lists Schwenkler's action third in a roster of "The Top 7 Most Embarrassing Town Hall Moments for Democrats." He admits in the blurb that "it's cheating a bit to include this one, but it's so good that it needs to make the list." After describing AA's act, he concludes, "If this were the old Batman TV show and there were no such thing as Godwin's Law, Robin would be yelling out, 'Holy Reichstag fire, Batman!'"

MAN CHARGED IN VANDALISM

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a man today accused of damaging Colorado Democratic Party headquarters at 8th Avenue and Santa Fe Drive.

Maurice Schwenkler (dob: 07-01-85) is charged with criminal mischief (F4).

The charge alleges that in the early morning hours of August 25, 2009, Schwenkler and another suspect smashed numerous windows at 777 Santa Fe Drive causing an estimated $11,000 in damage.

Schwenkler has been released from custody on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to be formally advised of the charge in Denver County Court, room 12T, on September 9, 2009 at 9 a.m.
