The investigation into the hit-and-run death of Lilian Verdonkschot, 49, has gone through several permutations since the incident took place on May 29. Dawn Marie Gonzales was taken into custody in connection with the crime, only to be subsequently released — and afterward, the Denver Police Department representatives announced that a first-degree-murder warrant had been sworn out for another woman, Nadine Nicole Montoya. Now, the DPD reveals that Montoya turned herself in to Westminster authorities. She’s being held without bond.

Homicide suspect Nadine Nicole Montoya, aka Nadine Carter, DOB 05-26-83, turned herself in to Westminster Police without incident on June 17, 2009. Denver homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant naming Carter for investigation of First Degree Murder.
On Friday, May 29, 2009 in the early morning hours, investigators determined that an unknown suspect intentionally struck victim, Lilian Verdonkschot, age 49, with a vehicle in the parking lot of the Burger King restaurant, 600 N. Broadway Street in Denver. Verdonkschot later died as a result of injuries sustained in the attack. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. Through the investigation, detectives determined that Nadine Nicole Montoya was driving the car at the time of the incident.
Montoya is in the Denver City Jail for investigation of 1st degree murder. There is no bond amount set at this time.
