The Boulder County Sheriff's Office releases about these incidents sport an air of exasperation, as if personnel can't believe some people could be that clueless. News flash: They can. Here's the info, in chronological order:
Summons Issued for Violation of the Boulder County Outdoor Fire Ban: Case # 11-1524 March 25, 2011This morning, March 25, 2011, at approximately 11:00 am, David Gordon Wolfer, date of birth November 02, 1955 was issued a summons for the violation of the Boulder County Outdoor Fire Ban. Mr. Wolfer was contacted at his home located at 14040 N 115th. He was in the process of burning a pile of burs (agricultural burn) in his yard and indicated he was unaware of the burn ban.
A Boulder Sheriff's deputy issued Mr. Wolfer a summons for the violation. A violation of the Boulder County Outdoor Fire Ban is a class 2 petty offense and may be subject to a $500 fine for a first offense, $750 for a second offense, and $1000 for a third offense.
Colorado is currently experiencing one of the driest late winter seasons in recent history. The danger of wildfire has increased rapidly over the course of the last few months. The recent wildfires in Boulder and neighboring Counties over the past few weeks have shown how hazardous and explosive the conditions are along the Colorado Front Range. For this reason, deputies are strictly enforcing the burn ban and will be issuing summonses to people found to be in violation of the fire restrictions.

This afternoon, March 25, 2011, at approximately 3:25 p.m., Michael Parrot, date of birth 1-30-57, was issued a summons for the violation of the Boulder County Outdoor Fire Ban. Mr. Parrot was contacted at his home located at 4949 Country Club Way. He was in the process of burning a pile of leaf buds in his yard and indicated he was unaware of the burn ban.

Grass Fire Saturday, March 26, 2011
On March 26, 2011, at approximately 1655 hours, a grass fire was started in the 8500 blk. of Ouray Dr. in Longmont, Colorado, Boulder County. Mountain View Fire, Left Hand Fire, Boulder Rural Fire, Hygiene Fire, and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services and Patrol Deputies responded. It is believed that 2.5 acres were burned by the fire, and no structures were threatened.
A resident who resides in the 8500 block of Ouray, Brett Heinrichs admitted to launching an Estes Model Rocket. It is believed that was the cause of the fire which Mr. Heinrichs attempted to put out on his own. Mr. Heinrichs received some minor burns to his face but refused medical treatment.
