Colorado issued another legal marijuana recall right before Thanksgiving, with the latest health and safety order affecting a Boulder-area dispensary.
According to a November 26 safety order from the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division, a batch of cannabis concentrate and vaporizer products sold at Karing Kind dispensary had potentially unsafe levels of chlorfenapyr, a banned pesticide.
The MED says the flagged products were made from the strain Strawberry Fury and sold at Karing Kind between September 29 and October 22 of this year; the recall includes the Cyklone brand of cannabis oil applicator and 500-milligram vape products.
Karing Kind is located at 5854 Rawhide Court, Boulder. According to the safety notice, the dispensary cooperated with the MED to initiate what the agency calls a “voluntary recall.”

Karing Kind could not be immediately reached for comment.
An insecticide that has been labeled “moderately toxic” by the World Health Organization, chlorfenapyr is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency for ornamental use inside of contained greenhouses, but not for cannabis plants in Colorado. Chlorfenapyr was also behind a hash-related recall in Colorado in October.
“Individuals who possess this affected product should destroy it or return it to the store from which it was purchased for proper disposal. Individuals who experience adverse health effects after consuming the affected product should seek medical attention immediately and report the event to the MED by submitting a MED Reporting Form,” the November 26 notice reads.
This was the fourteenth marijuana recall issued so far this year in Colorado, and the third in less than three weeks. In 2024, the MED issued nine recalls.
In October, the MED announced a collaboration with the state Department of Public Health & Environment to further inspect retail marijuana products in Colorado. Under the ongoing surveillance and analytics initiative, state inspectors were instructed to appear at dispensaries without notice to collect products for contamination testing. According to the MED, data and testing results will be compiled for a report that will provide a window into Colorado’s regulatory safety and tracking system.
