Kristin Pazulski's recent post about the Right to Rest Act, which would codify the right of the homeless to sleep, sit and lie down, among other things, stirred passions among our readers.

Many of those who responded were unhappily surprised that such basic issues remain in question.

Others expressed frustration that more progress isn't being made when it comes to this subject

Here's the take of someone who falls into the latter category — and he levels a charge of hypocrisy against one particular group.

Michael Buddy Gallegos Jr writes:

Yes it amazes me that in a nation of mostly "Christians" this would even be an issue, Jesus praised the poor and homeless, but these fake Christians seem to overlook that!

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
