The Regalados solicited at least $3.4 million from hundreds of investors, selling them a cryptocurrency called INDXcoin that "was backed by essentially no assets whatsoever and had no real value," according to the indictment released by the Denver DA's office this week. Nineteen victims are named in the indictment, each of whom invested between $10,000 and $200,000 in the cryptocurrency from January 2022 to July 2023. While they used Bible quotes and promises of blessings to sell the coin, the couple pocketed $1.3 million and spent the money on a Range Rover, home renovations, vacations, luxury handbags and cosmetic dentistry, the civil complaint charges.
They're due back in court on September 11; in the meantime, the court of public opinion has plenty to say about the Regalados. Says Cindy:
And they'll plead affluenza.Adds Eric:
Special place in hell for trying to implicate the Lord in their bullshit.Replies Hurt:
They should be forced to sell all their assets to repay their victims. However, the morons that believed this nonsense deserve some kind of hard lesson to learn.Offers Daniel:
A fool and his money were lucky to get together in the first place.Adds Tony:
What's always funny to hear about things like this is that 90 percent of the world believes in god, but when someone says god told me to do it, then they don't believe them.Responds Ky:
God didn't make money, man did..Suggests Jason:
I think you spelled that wrong... 'Gold' told them...'G.O.L.D. "Offers Keith:
I guess we need God's voice on the blockchain so we can verify this.Concludes Brad:
