We knew Brock Osweiler wouldn't go undefeated as an NFL starter.
But that didn't lessen the sting of the Denver Broncos' completely dispiriting 15-12 loss to the hated Oakland Raiders yesterday.
Reasons why not? The Broncos were home, the Raiders are mediocre, the Denver defense played another stellar game in vain, and Osweiler couldn't finish a drive in the first half or score a single point in the second — and while a multitude of dropped passes and a missed field goal by Brandon McManus contributed to this last factor, there's no denying that the offense under Osweiler recalled the Tim Tebow era, except without the miracle finish.
During and after the game, Twitter users debated about whether Osweiler should continue to start, or if the rehabbing Peyton Manning, who could soon get doctor's approval to play again, are the better option for a team that still has Super Bowl aspirations despite yesterday's ignominious defeat.

I still think we stick with Brock. He's been far better than we could've hoped tbh. He fits Kubes scheme. Peyton is on his last leg— Mr. Toast (@BroncosUp) December 14, 2015
No Super Bowl WITH Manning either. He won't be the Peyton of 2013. Better chance with Brock than with Peyton. https://t.co/mo0BiOVPAk— Mushin (@MetalMushin) December 14, 2015
Sooooo I thought this Brock guy was supposed to be better than Peyton Manning?? I'm thinking not— Kolin Mote (@KolinMote) December 14, 2015
I'm glad the Broncos lost to the SORRY #RAIDERS !!! Now all you analysts that think BROCK is better than PEYTON can wake up . He can't score— Will Adams (@WilldaBeast__) December 14, 2015

Really enjoying @TonyDungy and Rodney fighting over whether Broncos do better in playoffs w/Peyton or Brock. I vote Brock but want Peyton.— emptywheel (@emptywheel) December 14, 2015
Remember Peyton from GB after rest. Yeah. He's better than Brock. A lot better.— JC (@jcgrayum) December 14, 2015
The irrational thought process when the Broncos lose just baffles me. You still have a better chance with Brock than Peyton. Period.— Connor Putman (@Sheer_Con13) December 14, 2015
The idea that bc Brock was sacked Peyton would've been as well is crazy. His pocket presence and ability to audible is better than Brock's.— Evan Cohen (@EvCoRadio) December 14, 2015
I still say stick with Brock regardless of Peyton's health. He's young and will continue to get better— Jimmy GOAT Buckets (@BookeyTMK) December 14, 2015
@JoeyWats19 Brock's not elite, but I'd take him over several other QBs that played today. Peyton wouldn't do any better, coming off injury— Travis Taylor (@TheFFOracle) December 14, 2015
@SportsTalkFeed I don't think this is even a question. Peyton is done. Brock is legitimately better than him— QuestFor18 (@TheQuestFor18) December 14, 2015
I'm blocking anyone who says that Peyton is better than Brock.— Nati (@_bashew) December 14, 2015
Brock Osweiler still better than Peyton Manning? Or are people finally realizing his mediocrity— Nick Nunley (@4thAndNunley) December 14, 2015
I think the Brock Osweiler is better for Denver than Peyton Manning narrative is officially dead.— Josh Kail (@THATJoshKail) December 14, 2015
My weekly tweet: Brock Osweiler is NOT better than Peyton. He's a decent system QB with a great defense.— Shawn Milrad (@shawnmilrad) December 14, 2015
Brock is a much better QB than Peyton. Our wide outs lost that game— Adamantium (@JDEF80) December 14, 2015
