Last month we asked readers to send us suggestions for the Denver news and sports worlds' best representatives on social media for our 2013 Denver Web Awards. (If you're on the list and haven't received an invitation, get in touch). Now's your last chance to decide who wins top honors.
Here's how it works: We've put the top three to five nominees in each category on our web poll, where you can vote for your favorite candidate in Best Athlete on Social Media, Best Cause on Social Media and more. You can vote in a few categories, or in all. Either way, your input will help decide who takes home the prize.
And it could be you: If you're handy with a smartphone, we're still looking for the best news-related Vine videos of 2013, as well as clips in arts, music and food. Just post your video on Twitter with the hashtag #DenWeb2013. You can nominate yourself or someone else, and you can enter as many Vines as you want. We'll invite our favorites to an awards ceremony at Galvanize on December 5 to compete for top honors in front of a live audience.
Hurry up though -- voting is only open through the end of November. Click on our web poll and get started.
Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
