So when a Serbian company announced on April 1 that it was launching a "Joker" line of energy drinks in Colorado, many people thought it was an April Fools' joke — but after buying a couple of cans and getting zooted on a Wednesday afternoon, we can confirm that Jokić's energy drinks are very real.
The Instagram post, also shared on Jokić's account, came from Joker Guarana USA, a subdivision of Guarana, a Serbian energy drink company that has an endorsement deal with Jokić. According to Guarana, the Joker energy drinks can be found at all King Soopers and City Market locations in Colorado.
And, according to the cans, you can prepare for "NO SLEEP." (A sticker slapped over the Serbian language adds that "the no sleep statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration." Good luck to whoever has to test that claim out at the FDA.)
Although he plays coy in the United States, the Joker is more of a king in Serbia. Often seen having a good time at the horse track or enjoying a beer during the offseason, Jokić has even allowed his face to be plastered on ads, like this amazing piece of Michael Angelo-inspired art intended to sell Joker energy drinks spotted in Belgrade two years ago.
Those energy drinks have fetched upwards of $30 from American basketball fans on websites like eBay. Now all you have to do is live in Colorado and drive to a nearby grocery store. You probably won't put up a 61-point triple-double against Rudy Gobert, like Jokić did last night, but maybe they'll help you finally get back on defense in your rec league.
