Five minutes before the polls opened this morning, signs pushing Bill Ritter sprouted every few feet along Speer Boulevard. His name was everywhere — so omnipresent, in fact, that it was hard to remember that at this time last year, the Colorado Democratic Party was still on the Anyone But Ritter bus, still wooing potential gubernatorial candidates — John Hickenlooper, Andrew Romanoff — who might give the Republicans a run for their money.
But Ritter, who’d announced his candidacy more than a year before and had already visited every county in Colorado, stayed the course. And today, he’s comfortably ahead in the polls — well on his way to giving the Democrats back the Governor Mansion.
