The most common word women use to describe men in Colorado is “rude,” according to a poll from DatingAdvice.com. The recent online survey asked 3,000 single adult women from across the country to summarize the men from their states in one word, based on their personal dating experiences.

Colorado was one of just 22 states in which women used a negative word to describe their state’s men. The plurality of states – 23 – ended up with positive words like “loyal” or “reliable,” and another five states had neutral responses, such as “traditional” or “laid-back.” Nationwide, the top word women used to describe men was “hardworking.”

Colorado was the only state that classified its men as “rude,” and in their comments on the Westword Facebook post, some readers say they consider that description plenty rude, too. Says Jarrod:

Ummmm, no one asked us, but I think guys have the same descriptive word for women here in Denver, too.

Adds Ryan:

Rude? Probably because we can’t even approach a woman without immediately being shot down.

Responds Timothy:

Or perhaps she’s just picking low-quality potential mates and instead of dealing with her own poor choices, lumps everybody into the same category. It’s so much easier for some people to blame everybody else for their own shortcomings than it is to look in the mirror.

Suggests John:

Maybe a better word is “tired” – as in, “tired of the misandrony and games”?

Recalls Melanie:

Did six years of the apps until I met a guy through friends. Rude pretty much sums up my experience. Had guys on first dates do the following: just not show up at the agreed-upon time and place with no notice, state they prefer women with longer hair (they could see current length in my photos), show up in dirty work shirts (I came from work, too, but I changed and refreshed makeup first), try to aggressively kiss me, say they wanted to hang out again, then ghosted, etc. Dating on the Front Range really is the worst.

Offers Amanda:

They should just merge all the dating apps and call them “what’s left.”

Notes Margarita:

Does no good to tell a man when he’s being inconsiderate, he always finds a way to flip it.

Replies Jack:

That’s an inconsiderate thing to say.

Observes Ben:

In small mountain towns, the phrasing for ladies is “Dating here, your odds are good but the goods are odd.” For men: “You don’t lose your lady, you lose your turn.”

Concludes Red:

The dating pool has pee in it. I said what i said.
