National Park Service

Audio By Carbonatix
While the status of workers at the National Park Service remained in flux at the end of the week (1,000 fulltimers were still dismissed, but thousands of seasonal temps had been reinstated), one thing is clear: Coloradans love their (very) great outdoors, regardless of parties and politics.
That’s the conclusion of the annual State of the Rockies poll conducted by Colorado College after Donald Trump’s election…but before his inauguration. In comments on the Westword Facebook post with the poll results, though, there was little agreement. Says Bill:
Wait… a MAGA person actually disagrees with something Trump did?
Observes JL:
People who voted for destruction of government surprised that includes parts of government they liked and used.
Responds Michael:
Then they’re not very smart, because they’re doing exactly what they said they were going to do.
They wrote a fricking book called Project 2025 that has their entire plan. This was always their plan.
Counters Jake:
Promises made and promises kept. He’s absolutely doing what we voted for. Keep up the good work, President Trump!
Adds Chris:
Everything needs to be cut back! What part is so hard to understand? We spend way more than we collect in taxes, way more than you could ever take from “rich” people: 3g trillion. There is no choices; cuts must be made on everything. The twenty richest people in the country could pay all of their wealth in taxes and it would only be 1 trillion dollars. If you don’t see the problem, you are really, really stupid.
Offers RJ:
This was pretty good spinning of a story considering the poll was taken while Biden was in office. You should be embarrassed.
Replies Barbara:
I’m here to say it doesn’t matter when the poll was conducted – only that it captured the sentiments of Westerners regarding the funding of our parks system at the time it was taken. And an overwhelming majority of those polled made it clear that they support the funding.
